New study: method for the quantification of 8-methoxypsoralen by mass spectrometry for offline extracorporeal photopheresis

Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) is an efficient method to treat various autoimmune diseases, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, and graft-versus-host disease. It is based on the ex vivo inactivation of lymphocytes by 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP)/UV light treatment. Despite the adhesive, lipophilic nature of 8-MOP, no quality control is established for the ECP procedure.

New study: The rosmarinic acid content of basil and borage correlates with the ratio of red and far-red light

Rosmarinic acid (RA) and caffeic acid (CA) are potent antixodiants and show antimicrobial activi­ty against many fungal plant pathogens…In the future, a high content of antioxidants could become an additional selling argument for herbs. Therefore, a method to increase the content of CA and RA is of great interest for growers.
